In 2007, sales of GeoPost, subsidiary of the French La Poste Group and leader in the European BtoB express delivery market, topped the €3-billion mark. Its 2007 sales totalled 3.171 billion euros, an increase of 6.8% compared to 2006, on a like-for-like basis and at constant exchange rate.

GeoPost consolidated its position in Europe by acquiring Seur’s Santander franchise, in Spain, and reinforced its partnership with the leading express delivery company in Turkey, Yurtiçi Kargo, by acquiring a 25%-stake in the company. In South Africa, a new joint venture with the Laser group has enabled GeoPost to move into the country’s domestic express market.

GeoPost has expanded its international brand DPD into Poland, Benelux, Russia and the Baltic States. Thanks to its subsidiaries, leaders in their respective countries, and to a first rate DPD European transport network, GeoPost is today, in terms of sales, the third leading express parcel service provider in Europe.

Agreements signed with Air France /SoDeXi and Aramex have given GeoPost access to intercontinental routes.

Hence, in terms of volume, 2007 saw GeoPost confirm its position as the second largest express company in Europe – 528 million parcels delivered, in 2007 – for 300,000 customers.

Parceline, the British provider of standard and Express parcel services, is planning to relinquish its name and adopt the international DPD brand.

Aschaffenburg, 18 February 2008 – From now on the British provider of standard and express parcel services Parceline will be operating under the DPD brand. The company, which is part of France's GeoPost Group, intends to benefit from DPD's international strength in order to expand its share of international shipping, which is growing considerably faster than the domestic market. In the past two years DPD has significantly expanded its brand profile in Europe, with DPD partners in the Benelux countries, the Baltic states and most recently in Poland and Russia giving up their own brand in favour of the red and black DPD logo. In the UK the rebranding process is to be completed by March 31st.

Kay_Phillips.jpgParceline has been DPD's franchise partner in the UK since 1995. The company operates 42 depots in the UK and has recently invested 75 million euros in the construction of a new hub in the Midlands. This new hub in Oldbury is the most modern and technologically most advanced in the UK, and is served by the largest fleet of vehicles in the industry. "The new hub will give us an excellent basis for the continued expansion of our parcels operations under the DPD brand," explains Kay Phillips, Chief Executive Officer in the UK.

Over the last few years DPD has developed into an integrated international system and today has the most efficient road-based network in Europe. "Under the DPD brand we will improve our recognition as an international service provider," confirms Kay Phillips.

Arnold Schroven, CEO of DPD GmbH & Co. KG in Aschaffenburg, is also convinced that "Parceline will benefit from the strength of the DPD brand, and at the same time our network will receive additional reinforcement from this new exposure on Europe's second-largest market for standard and express parcels."
