Wishing you Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

On 1st of December 2006 companies of parcels delivery network DPD in Baltic countries finished the first stage of re-branding process. Companies, changing their brand from “Bizpak” to DPD implemented all tasks and formalities in order to change companies’ names during three months, since September.

Firstly, On October this year, LTD „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius“ changed its name. In Estonia and Latvia companies from the same network is going to finish re-branding process on 1st of December 2006. Since now „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius“, „Baltic Logistic System Eesti“ and „Baltic Logistic System Latvija“ companies will be named as „DPD Lietuva“, „DPD Eesti“ and „DPD Latvija“.

“Results of market research that our companies annually implement in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia show that number of companies using courier services in Baltic countries constantly increase. Simple, smooth and effective transfer of logistic functions to courier is especially important for businessmen who decide better to buy this service than deliver products or raw material by themselves. This is one the reasons why we decided to change companies’ titles and brand”, - stated “DPD Lietuva” director of sales and marketing for Baltic States Gintaras Bingelis.

According to him, companies with analogous titles and one DPD brand which unite all Baltic countries and Europe will simplify communication with current and potential customers and help to use effectively the benefits provided by one of the biggest European parcels delivery network DPD.

“Particularly dynamic market of Lithuania and all Baltic States forces us to search for methods how to stay competitive in the market. The reaction of our current customers allows us to believe that businessmen will positively evaluate innovations and logistics solutions that we will be able to suggest for companies in Baltic States when systems of Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian companies will be fully integrated into DPD network connecting entire Europe”, - said G. Bingelis.

After changing their titles, companies “DPD Lietuva”, “DPD Latvija” and “DPD Eesti” will continue to implement changes in the companies and continue re-branding from “Bizpak” to DPD. This brand will be used in titles of all service provided by companies, companies’ vehicles, administrative buildings, depots, company’s documents and courier’s clothing will spruce up with new brand.

Specialized courier services are mostly used in Lithuania, comparing with Latvia and Estonia. According to parcel and shipment delivery directions, markets of neighboring countries are the most important for businessmen. This was disclosed by done businessmen survey in the Baltic States that was ordered by small parcel delivery service company “DPD Lietuva”.

According to survey results 82% Lithuanian companies use specialized courier company’s services, in Latvia – 75%, in Estonia – 51%. However, Estonia is a leading country by using logistic services among Baltic countries. Only 23% of Estonian companies deliver raw material and production by their own transport, meanwhile 46% of Lithuanian and 50% of Latvian companies uses their own recourses for parcel and shipments delivery.

„The main reason why part of Lithuanian companies still do not refuse own transport – is a belief that delivery of parcels, documents and shipments does not cost additional time and money. According to 27% interviewed companies, their parcels can be delivered by own employees because the receivers are on their way. This fact surprises. If companies have really made economical reckonings such expenses as time wasted of employee, transport amortization and maintenance upkeep should have been included. For example, one working hour including taxes in Lithuania costs approximately more than 12 litas, not mentioning other part of expenses and uncreated value to company“– said Gintaras Bingelis, marketing and sales director of DPD Lietuva.

Too little number of parcels is the main reason to continue usage of own transport for 29% Latvian companies. Meanwhile the biggest part of Estonian companies (52%) say they do not know what to do with transport fleet.

Survey results confirmed that the most important markets are neighboring countries markets for the Baltic States business. One third (31%) of Lithuanian companies deliver parcels to Latvia, almost one fifth (19%) – to Estonia. Almost one third parcels (30%) of Latvian companies’ are sent to Lithuanian consignees, more than one fifth (22%) – for business partners or clients in Estonia. One quarter (26%) of Estonian businessmen consignees are in Latvia, and almost one fifth (18%) of consignees are in Lithuania.

Germany is an equally important partner for all three countries – 15% Lithuanian, 13% Latvian and 11% Estonian businessmen send parcels to this country. By the way, for Estonia, Finland is more important country than Germany. This is due to 17% of Estonian companies send parcels to Finnish partners.

“We believe that this decision will be the strongest support for further company’s expansion. Investment opportunities and experience of “GeoPost”, owner of DPD network, will allow successful realization of projects for ensuring quality of provided services and reacting to market changes effectively”, - said Gintaras Bingelis.

Decision to change brand name was taken by DPD Lietuva managers in June, 2006. Till 2008 company will fully move from Bizpak to DPD brand – this brand will be used for all provided services, vehicles, premises, parcel sorting depots, documents and courier‘s uniforms.

Baltic Logistic System Vilnius, which represents in Lithuania logistics brands Bizpak and DPD, starts this autumn a transition to single brand DPD (Direct Parcel Distribution). The company will be implementing re-branding process till 2008 January. During the re-branding period all company‘s vehicles, administration building, depots, documents and courier uniforms will be renewed and decorated with new DPD brand.

According management of the company the reasons, which motivated the change of brand, were new business circumstances and changes in courier services market. “Using one brand that unite all our services instead of two brands, will increase the Lithuanian businessmen awareness that they can get all parcel delivery services from one services provider,” said Gintaras Bingelis, Sales and Marketing Director of Baltic Logistic System Vilnius.

According to him changing the brand the company will strengthen its market position because high quality and reliable parcel delivery services are offered to the client in entire Europe.

Same re-branding process is simultaneously implemented in Baltic Logistic System Latvija and Baltic Logistic System Eesti, which belong to the DPD network as well. Based in Aschaffenburg, Germany, the company offers an array of services, ranging from Cash on Delivery to individual, tailor made products for procurement logistics. Growth was boosted by an increase in volumes handled in most European domestic markets, particularly in Germany, the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe, and an increase in international sales.

Paul-Marie Chavanne, CEO of GeoPost, adds: “GeoPost now has operations in every European country and this enables us to service our customers optimally across Europe. Furthermore the recent acquisitions of 86.6% of the Greek express parcel and documents delivery company Interattica and the French Exapaq network reinforce our position as the third operator in the B2B parcel and express delivery market in Europe”.

Affective cost management across every entity has helped the Group to reduce its operating expenses by 2.4% and, at the same time, absorb the rise in fuel prices, which affected the Group’s Mail, Parcels and Express activities.

In 2005, La Poste continued its efforts to modernize and enhance the vocational opportunities in each division of the Group, investing close to one million euros.

In total last year La Poste invested 958 million euros to business development, 14% more than 2004. The biggest part of the investments was used to modernize facilities, equipments and information systems.

In 2006, La Poste is set to pursue key projects that aim to modernize and improve the vocational opportunities in each division within the Group. These projects, instated to ensure the Group remains competitive, will fully incorporate sustainable development, essential for an industrial Group, and will focus on “respecting people”, a core value for a Group.

La Poste Group owns GeoPost which holds 100% of Lithuanian company Baltic Logistic System Vilnius. The recent company had reached 7,99 mln. euros turnover in 2005 which is 39% bigger than in 2004. Last year the company transported 1,6 mln. parcels, 34% more than in 2004.

Logistics company Baltic Logistic System Eesti AS (BLS Eesti), which represents BIZPAK/DPD trademarks, signed a sponsorship agreement with JCI – the organizer of European leadership conference European Conference 2006, which will be held in June this year in Tallinn, Estonia. According to the signed contract BIZPAK/DPD is the gold sponsor of the conference.

According to BLS Eesti managing director Tarmo Tael supporting EC 2006 goes well with the company’s principles to support initiatives of young and active people, courage to think big, to implement ideas and to take responsibility. “We believe that through supporting entrepreneurial and talented young people from leadership sector we can establish new valuable contacts,” Tael explains. “We are an international company operating in different countries and it is not excluded that one of the future leaders participating at JCI conference notices us through this event and joins us one day,” says Tael. He finds that successful organization of such event in Tallinn enhances the reputation of Estonia and helps to acknowledge Estonia as a potential cooperation partner for thousands of young leaders from 50 countries.

EC 2006 is JCI (Junior Chamber International) largest pan-European leadership conference in Baltics that is held in Tallinn June 14-17. Four-day-long international conference gathers close to 2,500 leaders from 50 countries and about 400 local entrepreneurs. The speakers of EC 2006 include internationally well-known experts from different fields. The main objectives of the conference are to offer high-quality educational and training programs, possibilities to establish new business contacts, to introduce the products during the Trade Show and find new business partners. Conference is organized by JCI Estonia and the patron of EC 2006 is President of Estonia Arnold Rüütel.

Logistics company BLS Eesti was founded in 1999 and since September 2004 merged with GeoPost, which is the world leader in post and courier service. GeoPost operates in more than 30 countries. In 2005 overall turnover of BLS Eesti was 45.48 million EEK, which is 25% more than in 2004. Company represents Bizpak and DPD brands.

Logistic company „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius” providing small parcel delivery service Bizpak/DPD has enlarged market share by 5% and according last year incomes has 35% of Lithuanian courier market. The post sector overview for 2005 announced by Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority (LRRT) shows that according to this index company definitely is a market leader – the nearest competitor’s take almost a half smaller market share.

According to Communications Regulatory Authority information all Lithuanian courier service providers in 2005 have gained 78,6 mln litas (22,8 mln. Eur) incomes – it is 9% more than in 2004, when incomes amounted to 72,2 mln litas (20,9 mln. Eur). „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius“ sale revenues grew by 39% and amounted to 27,6 ml litas (8,0 mln. Eur) in 2005.

“Opening of the European markets has made the biggest impact for the growth of courier services market. Lithuania develops international trade progressively; there are established branches of foreign companies in the country. Obviously, it impacts the needs of businessmen, which are - more comfortable and effective control of logistic processes, when specialized companies take care of parcels sorting and delivery“, – says „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius” managing director Vytautas Kudzys.

According to the overview data announced in the internet (www.rrt.lt) 74 private and legal entities had LRRT permission to provide courier services on 31st December 2005. Last year, just like in the previous one, there was observed growth tendency in number of companies providing courier services. In the end of 2002 courier services were provided by 34 companies, in 2003 – 54 and in 2004 - 70 private and legal entities.

It is natural that in entrenching market economics the number of courier services providers grows as well. However, the situation should change – when competition in the market grows, just the strongest one will survive, as shows experience of old EU members. This means that market players, who will find reliable partners abroad, join the international networks or specialize it’s activities, will fill free market niches”, - says V. Kudzys

According to information of respective Baltic Communications Regulatory Authorities, “Baltic Logistic System Eesti“ took 17% of Estonian courier market, „Baltic Logistic System Latvia“ - 32% Latvian market, according the turnover of 2005 company.

„Baltic Logistic System Vilnius“, „Baltic Logistic System Eesti“ and „Baltic Logistic System Latvia“ belongs to the same „Bizpak/DPD“ parcels delivery network.

Photo exhibition “Akimirka” sponsored by Baltic Logistic System Vilnius (BLSV) was registered in Lithuanianrecord book as the one having visited the biggest number of towns.

BLSV brought the photos of the exhibition to 50 Lithuanian towns and villages during two and a half years. According to organizers of the exhibition after opening the first exhibition in September 2003, it was planned that it will visit only a couple of Lithuanian towns. Then BLSV joined the project and gave a possibility to show the exhibition for many more Lithuanian women. The photos of the artist Egle Melinauskiene demonstrate women that were treated or examined for breast cancer at Ontological Institute, their emotions from the first till the last day in hospital.

“Already for a number of years our company is playing an active role in different social projects and is an active member of Lithuanian society. We are eager to address social problems that can be solved with the help of business. We are happy to deliver good news for Lithuanian women that with good and timely care it is possible to overcome even the most insidious illnesses,” said Vytautas Kudzys, Director General of BLSV.

“If not my illness I would have never created the photos about daily life of women that have breast cancer. Without enthusiastic and initiative people around me and the sponsors of the exhibition, it wouldn‘t be seen by so many women. By this exhibition we brought hope to them that even after hearing a scary diagnosis „cancer“ life continues,“ said Egle Melinauskiene, the author of the exhibition having recovered from cancer.

According to Mr. Kudzys, after reaching the record the exhibition will continue its trip around Lithuania.

„Together with the organizers of the exhibition we have already developed the route joining 20 towns of Lithuania where the exhibition will travel and will encourage Lithuanian women to take care of their health,“ said Director General of BLSV.

GeoPost, a subsidiary of the La Poste Group and European leader in the BtoB parcel and express delivery market, is continuing its development in Europe by acquiring 86.6% of the express parcel and documents delivery company Interattica, with an option on the remaining shares which can be exercised in 2008.

Paul-Marie Chavanne, CEO of GeoPost: “We are pleased with this acquisition. Not only does it complete the GeoPost network in Southern and Eastern Europe, it is a natural launching pad for the Balkan region as well.” As part of the GeoPost group Interattica becomes a partner of the DPD and Chronopost International networks.

“This acquisition creates new business opportunities for GeoPost and allows providing new services for GeoPost and its companies’ clients all around Europe including Lithuania. We hope to provide parcel delivery services to and from Greece for Lithuanian businessmen in the nearest future,“ – said Gintaras Bingelis, Marketing & Sales Director of Baltic Logistic System Vilnius.

Interattica is the fourth largest parcel and express Greek operator, with a turnover of around 11 million euros. It offers businesses complete coverage in the whole Greece territory which, because of its geography and the imbalanced population dispersal, is a particularly difficult territory to manage for a parcel delivery firm. The Greek parcel delivery market has been growing considerably over the past few years, both domestically and for import-export.

About GeoPost

GeoPost is a leading player in the global Parcels & Express market, operating in more than 30 countries under brand names such as DPD, Chronopost, Parceline, Masterlink and Bizpak/DPD. GeoPost is Europe’s third largest provider of express and deferred parcels services, recording a global turnover of EUR 2.4 billion in 2004. GeoPost is wholly owned by France's national postal service Groupe La Poste.

The turnover of Baltic Logistic System Vilnius for 2005 was 27,6 million litas. It is 38,4 per. more comparing to 2004. During last year company delivered 1,6 million. parcels – a third (33,6 per.) more than in 2004 and a twice (99 per.) more than in 2003.

“During the last year especially increased international parcel transit – in comparison with 2004 number of parcels has increased 1,5 times and was 19 times bigger than in 2003. It shows that companies develop their activity not only in Lithuania, but more often get in partnership with foreign companies. The success of every company resides in secure, fast and reliable logistic decisions”, - said Vytautas Kudzys General director of Baltic Logistic System Vilnius.
